    Barwon MHDAS provides integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families.

    About the role

    The Psychiatric Nurse Consultants report to the Senior Psychiatric Nurse and are accountable for day to day co-ordination of the Mental Health, Drugs and Alcohol Service (MHDAS) education, training and early career programs, including direct delivery of core competency training packages. This role is responsible for provision of Clinical Supervision for Clinical Nurse Educators and other nursing staff, and will also engage in their own supervision. You will professionally role-model contemporary mental health nursing and be accountable for implementing an approved plan focused on supporting our workforce to provide the best care, to every person, every day, so that everyone feels better. There are also opportunities to lead improvement initiatives and contribute to research.

    About you

  • Formal professionally recognised qualifications in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing and registration as a Nurse with the NMBA
  • Certificate IV in Workplace assessment (minimum requirement)
  • Post graduate tertiary qualification - Degree or Masters (nursing, education or relevant equivalent)
  • Leadership experience including managing change
  • Demonstrated expertise (knowledge, skills and attitude domains) in contemporary psychiatric nursing and mental health practice.
