    The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (the Commission) is a regulator established on 1 July 2018 as an independent agency under section 181A of the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 (the NDIS Act) to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and services. The Commission is the dedicated national regulator of NDIS service
    providers in Australia.

    Key duties of the position

    Commission Counsel will be responsible for leading the conduct of matters before the Federal Court and the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, and preparation of those matters.

    Responsibilities of the Commission Counsel include:

    · assisting the Principal Lawyer in growing the Litigation Team and the Commission litigation practice including:

    recruiting staff with relevant skills and experience;

    developing governance arrangements, processes and procedures; and

    putting in place accountability and reporting arrangements;

    · leading the conduct of litigation matters to achieve high quality outcomes for the Commission including:

    leading and supervising case preparation;

    signing off on all court and tribunal documents, and personally drafting more complex documents where required;

    ensuring compliance with all internal and external policies and guidelines;

    Eligibility Requirements

    · Commission employees are required to be Australian Citizens.

    · Candidates employed by the Commission are required to undertake a Police Records Check prior to commencement of employment. If the position involves working with children and/or vulnerable people, the appropriate check for this will also be required to be undertaken.

    · Successful candidate(s) will be required to obtain and maintain at least a baseline security clearance.
