Job Title: Principal Urban Planner

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Principal Urban Planner to join our NSW Planning team in Wollongong or Sydney. This role will provide professional planning and resource management advice to support business goals.

You will have the opportunity to work on a range of land development, infrastructure, and strategic planning projects across New South Wales. The successful candidate will be developed professionally and personally, with opportunities for career growth in a successful consultancy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-level expertise in urban planning research, data analysis, and report writing, as well as comprehensive knowledge of NSW urban planning and environmental legislation.
• Act as project manager, overseeing planning, programming, and coordination to ensure project outputs meet agreed goals.
• Develop project plans and strategies, identifying business resource requirements.
• Manage preparation of strategies, reports, environmental impact assessments, and other planning documentation and submissions.
• Conduct technical and quality reviews of documentation prepared by the planning team.
• Lead tender documentation preparation and foster client relationships.
• Mentor junior staff and identify business opportunities.

Requirements:

• Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or Architecture/Urban Design, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency in urban planning research, data analysis, and report writing.
• Extensive experience in statutory or strategic planning, preferably in NSW.
• Self-motivated and self-directed, with interest in working on diverse projects.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Commitment to self-improvement and continuing professional development.
