    About the role:

    The Senior Mental Health Nurse provides professional supervision and support to mental health nurses to ensure the effective delivery of quality clinical services, and an increased knowledge and skills of staff. Whilst the role will not hold a clinical caseload, it will manage a number of leadership portfolio areas in order to support the professional and strategic leadership approach to mental health nursing that is overseen by the Director of Nursing - Mental Health and Wellbeing Services.

    The role will provide nursing leadership, and will oversee the education portfolio across the service, including nursing education, training and development, and clinical supervision. In addition to this, the role provides oversight and management to a number of specialty services within the MHWS.

    Position overview:

    • Full-time (40 hours per week with monthly ADO), On-going position
    • Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 6,
    • Salary Range: $142,058.80, plus superannuation

    This position may be eligible for an incentive payment for rent, childcare, relocation costs and more, as part of the new workforce and incentive grants program administered by Rural Agency Workforce Victoria (RWAV) up to $10,000.

    What you bring:

    You will demonstrate a strong commitment to the mental health sector with an awareness of self that facilitates engagement, innovation, resilience and accountability within nursing teams and across the multidisciplinary care setting

    You're proactive, flexible, and resilient and happy to work autonomously, use your initiative, and have a high attention to detail. You will have a demonstrated understanding of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 (MHWA 2022 Victoria). Highly developed interpersonal skills with the capacity to work closely with a wide range of clinical and non-clinical personnel and communicate and negotiate at senior levels

    You would have:

    • Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 6
    • Bachelor of Nursing and post-graduate diploma in psychiatric and mental health nursing or to have completed a specialists undergraduate Mental Health Nursing program or a specialist post basic course of training which previously led to registration as a Division 3 nurse.
    • Ability to relate to a wide range of persons and professional groups.
    • Experience in the senior management of teams.
    • Knowledge of, and ability to, apply contemporary nursing practice and process management, education and research practices at both a broad and detailed level
    • A transformational mindset with experience in leading organisations through times of change
