    The opportunity As a Senior Legal Counsel at Hostplus, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring our legal strategies align seamlessly with our corporate vision.

    Reporting directly to the General Counsel, you'll provide invaluable legal support across a spectrum of superannuation andcorporate governance disciplines, from contracts and employment to mergers between superannuation funds.

    Your role will be instrumental in driving Hostplus' continued success.
    Provide comprehensive legal support to advance strategic and commercial objectives.
    Deliver high-quality and timely legal advice to the business, ensuring clarity and accessibility.
    Address emerging legal issues affecting the Fund and develop proactive solutions.
    Develop and refine policies, procedures, fact sheets, and guidance notes to support operational excellence.
    Draft and negotiate a diverse range of commercial agreements, capturing business objectives and technical nuances accurately.
    Review and draft regulatory documents including product disclosure statements, financial services guides, and more.
    Craft member communications, marketing materials, and press releases in alignment with legal requirements and brand standards.
    Conduct internal staff training sessions and programs to enhance legal awareness and compliance.
    Oversee work conducted by external counsel, ensuring deliverables meet expectations and budget constraints.
    Provide supervision, mentorship, and development opportunities for junior team members.
    Assume the role of 'General Counsel' during periods of absence to maintain continuity in legal operations.
    Foster strong relationships between the Legal team and other business units, promoting collaboration and synergy.

    About you:

    You'll be legally qualified with strong technical legal skills and in-depth knowledge in superannuation or Finance industries (knowledge of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act 1993 (Cth) and APRA prudential standards)Exceptional ability to influence others and develop strong working relationships Robust negotiation, drafting and stakeholder management skills Common sense judgment and a proactive, problem-solving approach Ability to operate autonomously and to apply sound commercial and risk judgement to various situations Ability to triage multiple priorities and work in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment What can we offer you?Our employees are passionate about what we do and are proud to be part of an organisation which helps everyday Australians achieve a brighter future.
