    This dynamic government authority has an opportunity for an experienced, customer focused Payroll Officer. This role reports directly into the payroll manager, where you will be responsible for processing and assisting in the coordination and preparation of weekly payroll maintaining employee records and providing effective communication to employees regarding payroll matter

    Key Responsibilities:

    As a Payroll Officer, your workdays will offer variety, ensuring each day brings new challenges and opportunities. Your main objective is to deliver exceptional professional service to the Council, ensuring the prompt and precise processing of employee salaries, wages, entitlements, and deductions. This involves meticulous adherence to the guidelines as per Awards, and agreements, employment contracts, and offers. Additionally, your role will encompass managing financial transactions, and data management.

    To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

    • Previous experience in a similar Payroll Officer position, in a complex organisation
    • Demonstrated experience using payroll software
    • Accuracy, have close attention to detail.
    • Exceptional customer service skills, patience, and ability to deescalate conversations and show empathy.
    • Ability to prioritise and strong time management skills.
    • A problem-solving mindset, solution focused
    • Intermediate level in the Microsoft suite of packages
    • The ability to demonstrate initiative, be proactive and able to work with minimal supervision
