    About Embrace Sanctuary Australia:

    Embrace Sanctuary Australia is a start-up Public Benevolent Institution (PBI) committed to fostering inclusivity, community welcome and support for people seeking refuge in Australia.

    Our organisation operates with a strong set of values, striving to create a welcoming and supportive environment and future for all.


    Role Overview:
    We are seeking one to two new Non-Executive Directors to join our board.

    The ideal candidates will bring expertise and experience in at least three of the following areas: fund raising, marketing, grant writing, government and community networks, finance, company secretary and legal, compliance and reporting.

    Experience as a Board Director and qualifications from the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) would be beneficial but not essential.

    Diversity and lived experience, particularly within the refugee or migrant community, will be highly regarded.

    Responsibilities:
    Provide strategic guidance and oversight to support the achievement of Embrace Sanctuary Australia's mission and objectives.
    Actively contribute to the development and implementation of organisational strategies and policies.
    Utilise expertise in fundraising and grant writing to support the financial sustainability of the organisation.
    Leverage government and community networks to advocate for policies and initiatives that benefit refugees and immigrants.
    Provide financial oversight and ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
    Collaborate with fellow board members, staff, and stakeholders to foster a culture of inclusivity and empathy within the organisation.

    Qualifications and Experience:


    Demonstrated expertise and experience in at least three of the specified areas: fund raising, marketing, grant writing, government and community networks, finance, company secretary and legal, compliance and reporting.

    Previous experience as a Board Director, preferably within the not-for-profit sector.
    Qualifications from the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) would be advantageous.
    Strong commitment to the values and mission of Embrace Sanctuary Australia.
    Diversity and lived experience within the refugee or immigrant community would be highly regarded.

    Time Commitment:

    This is a voluntary position with a startup PBI serving a crucial community need and an anticipated commitment of approximately 12 hours per month, including attendance at quarterly board meetings, bi-annual planning days and participation in relevant committee and organizational activities as required.


    Location:
    Flexible, with the ability to attend meetings virtually and planning days in person, Victoria as needed.
