    Group Manager – Civil Construction and Maintenance

    Citywide are recruiting for an experienced Group Manager to lead and manage operations of the Civil Services portfolio. You will be responsible for the contract management and strategic direction of the portfolio, achieving and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction whilst developing a high performing team and culture.

    Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Functional lead for assigned contracts.
  • Manage the customer relationship to ensure effective delivery and ongoing strong relations.
  • Deliver the required safety and quality standards through scheduled and non-scheduled site checks to ensure compliance.
  • Structure and lead the teams to ensure efficient and effective services are provided to the customer.
  • Analyse and report on contract performance and outcomes.
  • Participate in the development of annual business strategy.
  • Manage financial aspects of the portfolio including development and interpretation of annual budget, identification of capital requirements and approval of purchases.
  • Accountable for ensuring all assets are maintained and utilised in accordance with scheduling systems and policies.
  • Accountable for the safe operation of the portfolio and deliver safety initiatives throughout the business.
  • Accountable for the accuracy of Time & Attendance and payroll.
  • Ensure the highest standards of safety are applied.
  • Responsible for the optimal scheduling of people and assets within the portfolio.
  • Act as a designated Subject Matter Expert, proactively driving outcome in accordance with the charter for the group.
  • Proactively build and maintain a positive industrial relations environment and culture.
  • To succeed in this role you must possess the following qualifications, skills and attributes:

  • Qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering, Civil Design or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of civil engineering principles, encompassing alignment, earthworks, drainage and structural design.
  • Track record of effective cross-discipline project delivery and an effectively collaborate with all key engineering disciplines.
  • Civil design technical background and be familiar with relevant design guidelines including Australian Standards and Local Council Planning Schemes.
  • Experience in preparing operating plans and budgets and reporting on these.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with customers and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Proven ability to lead change initiatives in teams across a variety of projects.
  • Experience in leading and developing teams and other business leaders.
  • Strong understanding and demonstrable experience in proactively leading a positive safety culture.
  • A passion for continuous improvement, quality and improving service for the clients.
  • High attention to detail with good analytical and communication skills.
  • Capacity to lead and mentor junior engineers.
