    About the opportunity

    The Faculty of Medicine and Health's Research Support Team at the University of Sydney are seeking a registered nurse to attend and support the conduct of clinical trials. As a Clinical Trial Nurse, you will work under the direction of the Principal Investigator, and be the critical contact person for the day-to-day conduct of the study, and be present at all participant visits. You will oversee and advocate for all the participants and families in the study, ensuring their safety. The Clinical Trial Nurse assists with participant recruitment, ethics application processes, and adverse event reporting.

    You must be a registered nurse.

    Your key responsibilities will be to:

    • oversee and support participants and families in the study, ensuring their safety and wellbeing
    • complete clinical procedures and assessments in accordance with trial protocol, including but not limited to ECG, venipuncture, cognitive scales, and medical interview
    • assist with participant recruitment, treatment management, and safety / adverse event reporting
    • coordinate participant study visits according to protocol, and coordinate referrals to appropriate healthcare services / resources for team members and participants
    • support the principle investigator and clinical trials associate in both patient facing / clinic visits, and administrative tasks.

    About you

    To be successful in this role, you:

    • are a registered nurse with an applicable nursing registration
    • have a demonstrated awareness of the principles of confidentiality, privacy, and information handling
    • possess the ability to work both independently and as a part of a team, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement and ability to prioritise workload with competing priorities and sometimes limited supervision
    • are competent with critical assessment of vital signs, administration of medications, performing ECGs, venipuncture and cannulation, and assessing signs of clinical deterioration; as well as educating participants and families per study protocol
    • will have a good understanding of and be certified in ICH-GCP, or be willing to complete ICH-GCP certification.
