    This is a nine (9) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 2, 2024 with possible extension (12 months).

    Arbor Grove Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated, passionate, and enthusiastic Deputy Principal to join our professional and dedicated team.

    The successful applicant should be a strong leader, highly motivated, and innovative, with strengths in the development of the whole school curriculum and student engagement, as well as a high level of organisational skills to work with our team to incorporate strategic intent into operational plans, which maximize student engagement, motivation, and achievement.

    The successful applicant should have strong interpersonal and communication skills. You should ideally be highly motivated, energetic, and hardworking, as well as proactive in the support of students and staff and, ideally, have experience in engaging and motivating staff in new and innovative approaches. Previous experience and understanding of best practice in the Early Years would be desirable.

    As Deputy Principal, you will work closely with the Principal and members of the executive team to provide educational leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school vision and facilitating workforce effectiveness. You will have a key leadership role in teaching and learning and will be responsible for delivering strategies and targets outlined in the focus areas within the school's Business Plan. This will include further development and monitoring of our data-informed teaching practices initiative and instructional leadership program.

    This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy.     To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

    • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings.
    • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes.
    • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
    • Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

    ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

    Employees will be required to:

    • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
    • Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment.
    • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
    • Complete the Department's induction program within three months of commencement.
    • Complete the Department's training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
    • Complete the Department's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
    • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

    The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
