    Overview of the Team and role

    The Royal Commission Team coordinates Comcare's engagement with Royal Commissions, including the production of documents and preparation of written statements, and instructs Comcare's external legal representatives.

    The team also monitors the Royal Commissions' activities and publications, such as hearings and reports, to identify strategic risks and opportunities relevant to Comcare's functions.

    The team coordinates with Comcare's business areas to manage identified risks and opportunities and provides reporting to the Executive on Royal Commission matters.

    As the Director you will provide strategic leadership for the Legal Group and lead the team responsible for co-ordinating Comcare's response to Royal Commissions.

    The role will involve significant liaison across business areas to collate responses to notices for production, preparation of statements, witness preparation and other tasks as required.

    The Director will resolve problems and manage risk effectively.
    They will manage their own workload autonomously while ensuring regular progress updates are available to Executive.
    The Director will achieve organisational objectives through successful planning and participating, contributing, and collaborating across Comcare.

    The work includes:
    analysis and evaluation, preparing submissions, and providing advice on very complex and / or sensitive issues,
    nurturing complex relationships with internal and external stakeholders,
    briefing and reporting to the Executive, and
    collaborating with external legal service providers.
    Mandatory Qualifications/Experience
    Undergraduate degree in law.
    Admission as a legal practitioner of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory.
    Current unrestricted practicing certificate or ability to obtain one within three months.
    Five years or more post admission experience as a legal practitioner.
    Security Clearance
    Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.
