    WHAT YOU'LL DO

    We are looking for an experienced Global Enterprise Data Team Lead, with a technical background, to drive the execution of Optiver's Global Enterprise Data Strategy. You will work in the engineering department to build and leverage our cloud-based data architecture, empowering cross-functional teams to solve business problems and add value.

    This role demands expertise in translating business needs into robust conceptual data models (ERDs, etc.) and collaborating across teams to deliver actionable insights. You'll lead a team of data professionals, guiding their work on high-impact projects across Finance, HR, Recruitment, Marketing, ESG, Tech Operations, Risk, and Compliance.

    Your success will depend on your ability to drive data-driven transformation throughout Optiver, fostering a culture where insights are readily accessible and fuel strategic decision-making. You will also contribute to technical delivery alongside your team of Data Engineers and Analysts. Other responsibilities include:

  • Spearhead Optiver's data transformation: Take ownership of our Global Enterprise Data vision, ensuring a scalable, well-governed data ecosystem that empowers business insights.
  • Drive strategic implementation: Advance and shape the data strategy. You will be responsible for translating complex enterprise business problems into a structured program of work, meticulously prioritising projects with clear, communicated key deliverables.
  • Lead implementation: Translate complex enterprise problems into a prioritised roadmap of data projects. Collaborate with stakeholders across global offices and functions to deliver tangible outcomes.
  • Direct and execute: Guide your team of Data Engineers and Analysts, setting clear goals, managing timelines, and driving high-quality data solutions. Ensure that projects are on track, resources are optimally utilised, and the team's work aligns with Optiver's strategic data objectives.
  • Balance leadership and expertise: While primarily a leadership role, you'll leverage your deep understanding of data modelling and engineering principles to provide strategic direction and technical guidance, when needed.
  • Communicate and collaborate: Foster a data-driven culture by effectively communicating project progress, insights and the value of data-driven solutions to stakeholders at all levels.
  • WHO YOU ARE

    To be successful for this role, you'll need to have:

  • Proven track record: 10 years of hands-on experience as a data professional, with at least 5+ years spent leading data teams in fast-paced environments.
  • Technical foundation: A background degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a closely related field (preferred).
  • Core competencies: Data Modelling: Experience in modern paradigms and relational modelling techniques.Cloud Proficiency: Experience with a major cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, Databricks, etc.).ETL/ELT: Fluency in understanding the workings of and optimisation of data pipelines, including reverse ETL.Coding: Good understanding of SQL and Python for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Tool mastery: Essential tools: Proficiency with Fivetran, dbt, Tableau (or similar), and a cloud platform like Snowflake or Databricks.Valuable additions: Experience with statistical modelling, machine learning techniques, or other relevant technologies.
  • Beyond the technical: Data governance advocate: Sound understanding of data quality, management and security principles.Communicator and strategist: Skill in translating technical concepts for diverse stakeholders and collaborating to shape data-driven strategies.Problem solver: Ability to break down complex challenges and drive solutions in a dynamic environment.Project Management: Proven ability to drive multiple complex data projects concurrently, ensuring both high-level strategic alignment and meticulous attention to detail.
