The Data Capability tribe sits within our Australia Retail & Commercial division and our mission is to combine business & technology capabilities to enable analytics, reporting & data asset development by data practitioners and users across ANZ's Australia Retail & Commercial division.

    As a Senior DevOps Engineer in the Data Capability tribe, you will be responsible for building Kubernetes powered elastic data analytics environments, large scale data pipelines, distributed systems and real-time streaming application to deliver insights to bank's day to day operation and enable rapid decision making with data completeness and accuracy.

    You will challenge inefficient engineering practise in ANZ and influence change in your field to drive better business outcomes. To this end, in the role you will implement smart and relevant devops engineering to drive E2E data product delivery and support the uplift of DevOps/DataOps capability, while linking into the wider Enterprise data analytics roadmap.

    What will your day look like

  • Build, maintain and support data application infrastructure with a strong IaaS mindset
  • Develop applications for process automation and system integration
  • Follow DevOps rationale and best practices, continuously improving data platforms and data infrastructure to empower robust, fault-tolerant data product development and production environments.
  • Working in a cross skilled environment with people both from the data domain and various technical disciplines to build fit for purpose data infrastructure

    But back to some of the skills:

  • Strong understanding in software engineering best practices and good coding skills in Python
  • Good understanding and solid production experience with infrastructure as code, workflow automation
  • Experience managing Kubenetes cluster with one or more Kubernetes distributions. e.g., RedHat OpenShift 4, AWS EKS, GCP GKE etc. (3–5 years min)
  • Good understanding and experience with GitOps practices and experiences with popular GitOps tool stacks. E.g., GitHub, ArgoCD
  • Good understanding and experience with cloud native CI/CD pipeline implementation and tools. E.g., GitHub Actions/Argo Workflow etc.
  • Good understanding and experience with K8S configuration management tools. E.g., Helm or Kustomize
  • Good understanding and experience with modern monitoring/observability tool stack. E.g. Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, OpenTelemetry etc.
  • Solid experiences in dockerizing and integrating opensource projects at production-level, E.g., Airflow, JupyterHub, Spark and MLflow etc.
  • Good understanding and production experience with developing Kubernetes applications, preferably in data analytics projects.
  • Security savvy with complex enterprise security environment.
  • Proven experience of using and automating IAM process via industry standard tools, e.g. Keycloak, AWS IAM
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate and write technical documents.
