    Description

    Public Sector People are working with a local council to recruit a Traffic Engineer for a temporary contract assignment.


    This current vacancy is suited to a band 5 traffic or transport engineer with ideally 12+ months of local government experience in a traffic and transport engineering role. This will be a temporary contract role for 3 months with an opportunity to turn permanent.

    As a traffic engineer, you will be responsible for:

    1. Reviewing and providing comments on transport, traffic, and parking-related issues.
    2. Assisting with the development and implementation of Traffic Management Plans.

    The successful candidate will have:

    • Proven traffic engineering experience.
    • Strong communication skills.
    • The ability to hit the ground running and work independently.

    Responsibilities and Experience for this role:


    The ideal candidate will:

    1. Assess and investigate customer/residents' requests.
    2. Assess and prepare Engineering/traffic reports on planning referrals.
    3. Assist with the development of traffic management plans.
    4. Provide recommendations to resolve traffic and parking issues.
    5. Investigate the effectiveness of transport-related projects.

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • A degree in Civil Engineering, or relevant experience/qualifications.
    • Previous Local Government experience in a traffic engineering role.
    • Knowledge and understanding of municipal traffic issues.
    • Ability to prepare and review Traffic Management Plans.
    • Sound communication skills both written and verbal.
    • Ability to provide timely and professional advice.
