    About the role:

We're seeking a skilled Senior Software Engineer (Java) with experience of Oracle CCB, to provide expert coding and configuration in our tolling domain, focusing on Core Tolling, Billing, and Collections applications.

As the Senior Software Engineer, you'll analyse and enhance Java applications, contributing to the technology stack's best practices. Your role will encompass designing features, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing performance improvements to reduce operational costs and effort.

  • Manage and operationalise engineering code within the Java platform application domain
  • Implement feature driven software engineering practices and processes
  • Follow source code branching and merging strategies for Java application platforms.
  • Actively participate and demonstrate leadership in industry forums
  • Provide input to other Core Tolling, Billing, and Collections teams during user story implementation
  • Design and develop new features and enhancements on the platform along with performing root cause analysis and defect remediation
  • This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:

  • Strong Java application development experience (Java SE or J2EE)
  • Proven expertise in designing and building Java applications in an Enterprise context, including Server-side web applications, Oracle Weblogic Server, and Oracle Database 11g/12c
  • Knowledge of Oracle Customer, Care and Billing (CCB)
  • Expertise in Agile, CI/CD, and DevSecOps principles
  • Strong experience with development tools such as Jenkins, GitHub/Perforce, Eclipse, Artifactory, Ant & Gradle
  • Reliable, insights-driven, self-motivated, and able to handle the challenges of a varied role in a dynamic organisation
  • Demonstrated ability to define and drive complex initiatives/projects, balancing time to market, usability, and technical debt
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (written and verbal) with the ability to deal effectively with both internal and external personnel at all levels
  • Experience writing code for large-scale production environments
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and creative problem-solving ability
  • A broad range of tools, languages and frameworks is desirable
  • Preferred qualifications include a tertiary degree in systems engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline
  • With a career at Transurban, you'll enjoy a range of benefits, including:

  • A range of flexible working and leave options, including the option to purchase an additional six weeks of leave each year
  • 16 weeks paid parental leave (regardless of gender or carer status), with no waiting period, with Superannuation paid during unpaid leave as well
  • Learning and development opportunities to support your career interests
  • Health and wellbeing support—access to Headspace and our EAP program, wellness facilities, and more
  • Share offers and insurance benefits
  • Social activities, community give-back programs and paid volunteer days
  • We offer a range of flexible working and leave options, so you can balance your work and life commitments and interests. Have a conversation with us about how this could work for you.

We embrace diversity with a foundation of safety, wellbeing and inclusion; where everyone belongs. We treat everyone with fairness, consideration and respect, regardless of gender, gender identity, marital or family status, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, religious beliefs, cultural or socio-economic background, perspective, and experience – whether they work for us or not.
