    The Team

    Based in the Tasmania State Office in Hobart, you will join a high-performing team, whose work is integral to the agency's ability to deliver federal events, and the proper conduct of those events in accordance with the AEC's Electoral Integrity Framework.

    The State Office team supports the administration of Tasmania's five electoral divisions and is responsible for planning, delivery, and evaluation of a range of projects that support state-wide electoral event delivery. As well as collaborating with internal stakeholders to assure governance and corporate deliverables for Tasmania and working closely with, and providing critical support to, our divisional network.

    The Opportunity

    The Senior Project Officer is responsible for contributing to strategic planning for state-based initiatives, lead engagement with key internal and external stakeholders on behalf of Tasmania State Office and manage election-readiness functions, including matters relating to governance and corporate support.

    The role is required to plan and deliver select high-profile election-delivery projects, including management of resourcing, schedule and risk to ensure project goals are achieved in accordance with policy and procedure.

    The Senior Project Officer will manage one or more staff members, and consistently model AEC and broader Australian Public Service (APS) values, including by demonstrating a commitment to ongoing learning and development and helping to build the capability of more junior staff.

    At election time, the role may also be required to take on new responsibilities at short notice, as agency priorities necessitate and as directed by management.

    To excel you'll have:

    • The ability to uphold key principles and values, set appropriate standards of behaviour, and always demonstrate integrity in your conduct and dealings with others.
    • Demonstrated ability to remain positive in a dynamic and challenging environment, adapt effectively to rapid change, cope with setbacks, and remain calm and achieve results under pressure.
    • Experience with building and maintaining effective working relationships with team members, executives and key stakeholders to achieve project/program and agency goals.
    • Experience managing people and projects. Including articulating objectives, setting priorities and leading a team that delivers, or contributes to the delivery of, quality results for medium to large projects or programs.
    • Ability to use sound judgement and analytical skills to make evidence-based decisions, identify and manage risk, and achieve results within legislative, policy, and fiscal parameters.
    • AEC employees must be Australian citizens.
