    Job Description

    The Project

    Somerton Intermodal Terminal is a flagship project for the freight rail industry and will offer a location that services the longer train profiles proposed as part of the Federal Governments Inland Rail commitment. The new intermodal rail hub is an exciting new $400m Design and Construct (D&C) project that will involve, groundworks, track renewals, heavy duty pavements, structures and signalling.

    The Opportunity

    Reporting into the Project Director the Environmental and Sustainability Advisor will be primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with contractual environmental specifications, environmental legislation, planning approvals, and other relevant contractual and stakeholder environmental requirements.

    Key Accountabilities for the position will be:

    • Support the implementation of environmental management and sustainability measures as defined by the Project Environmental Management Plan, contractual, and legislative requirements
    • Assist with identification and implementation of sustainability initiatives.
    • Supports the planning, inspection and monitoring of construction activities linked to environmental constraints/risks such as vegetation clearing, night works, heritage protection and salvage, contamination management, etc.
    • Conduct regular environmental and sustainability inspections and monitoring requirements as defined in the Project Environmental Management Plans (i.e. noise, vibration, water, and air quality, etc.).
    • Monitor supplier and subcontractor performance against environment and sustainability requirements

    Required Skills and Competencies

    • Ideally Tertiary qualified in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or equivalent
    • Minimum 2 post graduating experience in the application of Environmental Management principles
    • Demonstrated experience in inspection and monitoring of construction activities linked to environmental constraints/risks such as vegetation clearing, night works, heritage protection and salvage, contamination management, etc.
    • Fluent in the Microsoft Office suite of desktop applications and related software packages, with proficiency in Excel a must
