    OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    The General Manager of Contingency & Sustainment Services is accountable for the leadership and management of Toll's Government & Defence, Contingency & Sustainment business.

    This business provides expeditionary logistics services (including Land, sea, and air Movement, Healthcare Logistics, HADR Response, and Logistics Coordination), Agency Services (Ship Agency and Flight Facilitation Services), Base Logistics Service (Warehouse, Distribution, and quarantine Cleaning), and Garrison Support Services (Fuel Services, Airport Management, Temporary Camps, and Marine Base Operations).

    These services cater to Government and defence organisations and NGOs globally.

    In their capacity as the lead, this role is tasked with ensuring the successful pursuit and coordination of strategic growth and operational excellence.

    It involves providing the appropriate level of resources to deliver a profitable business.
    Furthermore, the incumbent will supervise the identification of growth areas, working closely with the Business Development team.
    Simultaneously, they will promote a unified culture centered on safety, people, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.
    PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Strategic Leadership and Vision:
    Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the CSSvertical, aligningit with overall company goals and market trends.
    Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the government and defencesectors, expandingthe vertical's reach and service offerings.
    Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team, driving efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

    Operational Excellence:
    Oversee all aspects of CSSoperations, includingexpeditionarylogistics, agencyservices, base logistics services, and engineering services.
    Ensure efficient resourceallocation, costcontrol, and adherence to strict safety and quality standards.
    Implement and manage robust performance metrics and reporting systems to track progress and identify areas for improvement.

    Client Relationship Management:
    Build and maintain strong relationships with key government and defencestakeholders, understandingtheir specific needs and challenges.
    Proactively identify and address clientconcerns, ensuringhigh satisfaction and repeat business.
    Negotiate and managecontracts, ensuringprofitability and compliance with all relevant regulations.

    Team Leadership and Development:
    Lead a high-performing team of professionals with diverse expertise inlogistics, engineering, andagency services.
    Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that promotes professional growth and development.
    Recruit, retain, andmotivate toptalent, buildinga strong and stable team.

    ACCOUNTABILITY
    Develop key strategic initiatives and solutions in order to meet our client's requirements.

    Lead the development of high-level strategy, solutions & planning to support the growth of the Sustainment & contingency businesses within Government & Defence across the globe.

    Lead negotiations with Government & Defence Clients and supplier contract renewals, & new contracts liaising with legal and Senior Management team.

    Identify innovative solutions to underlying problems in practices methods or systems to improve operational excellence in critical areas such as quality, cost, customer service and Sustainment in health, safety and environmental performance.

    This role requires will require the incumbent to travel extensively at times and utilise their broad knowledge and experience in planning, operations and project management, at times under difficult circumstances and successfully deliver the G & D services / clients projects.


    OTHER:
    Primary contact and accountable for all senior / executive level customer engagements within portfolio
    Set long term priorities across sub-vertical and balance resources to optimize outcomes for the wider group.
    Ensure the work group functions effectively and team members are trained and developed.
    Hold the team accountable to implement agreed business plans to optimize production / operational outputs.

    Hold the team accountable to monitor and evaluate contracts financial and operational results, including weekly revenue and cost reporting, and compliance.

    Preparation of forecasts and undertake performance reviews within business unit.

    PRE-REQUISITES:
    Minimum 10 years of experience in a leadership role within thelogistics, engineering, orgovernment contracting sectors.
    Proven track record of success in driving businessgrowth, profitability, andoperational efficiency.
    Extensive understanding of government and defence procurement processes and regulations.
    Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build and motivate diverse teams.
    Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
    Demonstrated commitment tosafety, quality, andethical business practices.
    QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS –Education and/or professional
    Degree qualification in Engineering, Business Management, and /or Logistics or business-related discipline fields highly desirable.
    Demonstrated management expertise & experience in CSS related industry.
    HEALTH & SAFETY
    Personal leadership of HSE standards, compliance, and initiatives.
    The approval and promotion of Business Unit specific safety and quality polices.

    The regular oversight and proactive day to day management of the Business Unit so that all operations are conducted in accordance with the Toll Health & Safety Policy & Standard requirements.

    Must ensure that all reasonable steps are taken by Business Unit management and staff to ensure all activities are conducted with a reasonable degree of care and diligence.

    Provide leadership by example by, identifying safety hazards and proactively pursuing solutions to maintain a safe work environment.
    Ensure all Business Unit staff understand their safety responsibilities and manage employee performance to meet relevant safety responsibilities.
    Ensure safety practices and procedures are adequate, implemented and maintained throughout the Business Unit.
    Ensure the establishment of plans, measurable objectives, and targets for OHS.
    Ensure continuous improvement and include ongoing monitoring, auditing and review of Business Unit management systems.

    Ensure necessary resources and equipment are available to staff to facilitate adherence to safe work procedures and compliance to relevant Occupational Health & Safety Legislation.

    Promote adherence to policies and procedures including monitoring of a safe working environment and safe systems of work for staff throughout the Business Unit.
