    Job Summary

    Subscribesto, adheres to, and shares the Doctrines, Mission, and Positions of TheSalvation Army Serves as an evangelist to the community and constituency of theCorps; develops and leads worship services and ministerial programs; providesspiritual guidance and leadership to the same. Serve the Corps by assisting theCorps Officer in planning, coordinating, administrating, monitoring, evaluating,and developing the day-to-day operations of the Corps; develops and leads religiousprograms; participates in social service programs providing assistance topeople in need; coordinates arrangements for seasonal programs andrecruits/supervises volunteers for the same; Supervises and schedules Corpsgroups, community outreach programs, and social service work; monitors andmaintains adequate financing and budgetary compliance of the Corps operations. Participates in providing assistance to people in need.

    Servesas an evangelist through the proclamation of Jesus Christ as redeemer with theintent of impacting the lives of men and women through spiritual regeneration;promotes membership into the body of Christ which includes but is not limitedto The Salvation Army.

    AssistsCorps Officer and Program Coordinator in planning and implementing worship andoutreach programs for the corps that reaches across all age groups.

    Plans,develops, prepares, and leads specific youth ministries programs; leads or assistswith regular meetings for Adventure Corps; prepares and coordinates or assistswith production of Christian program materials and newsletters; assists inSunday School teacher development.

    Assists and partners with the Corps Officer(s) in developing SalvationArmy evangelical mission outreach and growth; assesses local community needsand advises Corps Officer of findings; identifies specific areas to target foroutreach growth; encourages and helps to train corps members for mission;develops a corps mission team where possible.

    Assists in developing, leading and/or supporting Salvation Armyevangelical mission programs and ministries in corps/club; plans, develops andcoordinates bridging events between corps and persons served in mission, clubs,centers, shelters, etc.

    Assists and partners with the Corps Officers in developing andconducting the Pastoral Care plan for Pathway of Hope. Maintains appropriate records and outcomes ofthe Pastoral Care plan per Pathway of Hope guidelines. Maintains appropriate communication with Pathwayof Hope case manager.

    Assistsin training and developing Corps Band and singing groups, as well as, leadingthem in performance as necessary.

    Visits individuals and groups in the local community in order toestablish a presence in the community and to increase awareness of SalvationArmy ministries/programs; builds personal and professional relationships inorder to learn firsthand the needs of the local community.

    Communicates research findings as well as pertinent information aboutthe local community to the Corps Officer; prepares and provides regularprogress reports; maintains statistics on program and ministry participants andcorps/ Salvation Army evangelical mission growth.

    Plans,develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates program services based onchanging needs of clientele.

    Recruits, trains, and supervisesvolunteers for Corps programs.

    Sets an example for the Corps by being aSalvationist in Good Standing and participating on a regular basis in Corpsprograms.

    Serves as an advocate for ensuring the divisionaland local representatives, leadership, and program participants are aware ofdefined goals and requirements; works cooperatively and effectively with localmanagement and participants to ensure goals are met.

    Assistsin the promotion of Corps growth goals and plans as well as Army programs andservices in the community.

    OtherResponsibilities

    May drive Salvation Army vehicle to transport Corpsmembers to/from Corps programs; operates vehicles in compliance with establishedpolicies and procedures.

    Knowledge of the mission of The Salvation Army.

    Knowledge of Bible and its message in order to teach lessons andlead others to Christ.

    Knowledge of social service program development and specificallyChristian program development with goal of leading others to Christ.

    Knowledge of The Salvation Army's regulationsand organizational structure.

    Knowledge of the principles and practices ofsocial service program administration.

    Knowledge of the general principles associatedwith computer word processing and database management.

    Ability to serve as an example of Salvationismand Christian stewardship and to demonstrate interest in the spiritualwell-being of all personnel.

    Ability to conduct all activities of the position with a view toaccomplishing the Army's fundamental purpose of proclaiming Jesus Christ asSavior and Lord, which purpose must find expression in both the messageproclaimed and the ministry of service performed.

    Ability to visit with people in the community with goal ofbuilding relationships and trust which will lead to invitations to participatein corps programs and missions.

    Ability to analyze local community needs in order to makerecommendations to the Corp Officer regarding areas to target for corps growthas well as programs and ministries to be developed that match community needs.

    Ability to conduct thorough research and toprepare and maintain accurate and complete reports in a timely manner.

    Ability to develop means for measuring effectiveness of programs,ministries and outreach/in reach efforts.

    Ability to provide informative and accurate progress reports andstatistical data.

    Ability to apply discretion and independentjudgment with limited supervision.

    Ability to maintain the confidentiality of allinformation associated with this position.

    Ability to perform the duties andresponsibilities of this position consistent with the principles, standards,and Orders and Regulations of The Salvation Army.

    Ability to conduct the affairs of this officeresponsibly, efficiently, and economically and to motivate the staff to dolikewise.

    Ability to meet attendance requirements.

    Ability to read, write, and communicate theEnglish language.

    MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    Educationand Experience

    Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college oruniversity in a related field,

    and

    Three years' experience performing mission workor experience participating in program development for a church or corps

    Or

    Any equivalent combination of education andexperience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

    Licenses& Certifications

    Valid State Driver's License

    Bon-a-fideOccupational Qualification (BFOQ):

    This position requires an active,uniform-wearing Salvationist in good standing

    PhysicalRequirements

    Constant amount of physical effort requiredassociated with hand movement, holding, finger dexterity, reading, writing,eye-hand coordination, vision, hearing, talking and sitting at least 90% of thework time; rare to occasional amount of physical effort required associatedwith walking, standing, lifting up to 30 lbs, pushing, pulling, climbing, bending,squatting, crawling, and reaching at least 30% of the work time.

    WorkingConditions

    Work is performed in a normal office environmentwhere there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes inweather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

    Work requires travel in order to conduct communityand home visits.
