    The world's biggest challenge needs you, here.

    Big challenges require big solutions. And the transition to a net-zero world is about as big as it gets. Working at Shell Energy - one of Australia's leading energy retailers - puts you at the heart of that endeavour.

    Be part of a team with the expertise and drive to succeed

    Based in Brisbane or Melbourne, the Portfolio Business Analyst is responsible for processing the inbound work items at the front of the DTS Portfolio funnel. This processing takes many forms but ultimately shapes the work into a format and set of artefacts that allows delivery squads to pick up and deliver the work at the right time.

    This role requires liaising with stakeholders across the business to understand their needs, and to understand the value and intention of the work that they bring to DTS.

    Responsibilities & Accountabilities

    • Work with business stakeholders to define expected outcomes of initiatives and assist with the definition of expected benefit outcomes that they can be measured against, including a measure of the value that the benefits will provide;
    • Be continuously analysing and grooming work coming into the portfolio to provide the business and delivery teams with solution guidance and advice, and to conduct sufficient high-level analysis such that teams have a solid understanding of the work;
    • Guide and help plan how work can be broken down from a discrete initiative to a roadmap of work;
    • Work closely with architecture to assess solution options and provide deeper analysis where required;
    • Assist with discovery workshops and activities to ensure squads get a quality outcome before kicking off the delivery of work;
    • Bring a UX and CX lens to the portfolio of work and look for opportunities to innovate to improve our processes and solution designs at the portfolio level; and
    • Look at opportunities to bring Design Thinking practices to the problem definition and solution.

    What you'll bring

    We're looking for someone who has an exceptional ability to influence as well as establish and maintain strong relationships with our senior technology leadership team. To thrive in our high-performing and innovative culture you are driven and dynamic with a results orientation, positive work ethic and customer-first mindset.

    • Extensive, demonstrated experience working in agile development teams and engaging product owners and subject matter experts in agile projects;
    • Previous experience in energy industry systems and processes;
    • Experience in the analysis of both business processes and the design of technology-based solutions;
    • Facilitation of workshops for discovery, process improvement or solution design;
    • Excellent stakeholder management skills as well as a firm grasp on the latest technology trends globally;
    • Demonstrated ability to model data, user stories and processes, experience in implementing process change and producing supporting documentation;
    • Knowledgeable about Design Thinking, human-centred design and working in an agile/lean UX environment;
    • Extensive background in creating research and design artefacts, such as user personas, journey maps, wireframes/sketches and prototypes;
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
    • An interest in business solution development with an understanding of design principles and technology solution architecture;
    • Innovative and questioning nature to explore ideas and prototype solutions;
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (phone and face-to-face); and
    • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
