Our client is seeking a Senior Associate to join their investment deal team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of infrastructure projects and businesses across northern Australia. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the analysis and structuring of a broad range of investment decisions. This includes performing financial modelling, industry and company research, drafting investment papers, assisting in transaction documentation and delivering investment committee and Board papers and presentations. What you'll do:
As a Senior Associate, you will be an integral part of our client's investment deal team. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve conducting detailed stakeholder research, contributing to the initial screening of opportunities, preparing investment approval documents, board papers, transaction documentation, as well as conducting comprehensive financial modelling. You will also assist with structuring negotiations, engaging with legal advisors, due diligence providers, and undertaking other project-related tasks as required. This role requires a high level of commitment, excellent interpersonal skills, strong commercial acumen, advanced Excel skills for financial modelling purposes, along with a keen interest in Northern Australia's development.
Undertake stakeholder and industry research and analysis
Contribute to the initial screening of opportunities, preparation of investment approval and board papers, transaction and execution documentation
Conduct comprehensive financial modelling, credit and investment analysis and due diligence
Work with internal and external stakeholders in modelling financial outcomes of transactions, including cash flow forecasts, customised debt schedules and performing sensitivity analysis using existing models or developing bespoke models
Assist with structuring and negotiation of terms and engagement with Legal advisers and due diligence providers
Engage in other ad-hoc project work within and outside of the deal team as appropriate
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Senior Associate role will bring a wealth of experience from an investment bank, institutional bank, project finance lender or advisor. You will have a strong commercial acumen and insight, coupled with advanced Excel financial modelling skills. Your ability to write corporate lending credit proposals and your understanding of Project Finance will be highly advantageous. As a Senior Associate, you will need to demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a small, highly inter-dependent team.
At least three years' post-tertiary experience in an investment bank, institutional bank, project finance lender or advisor
Tertiary qualifications in finance, commerce, engineering or a related field are preferred
Very strong commercial acumen and insight
Advanced Excel financial modelling skills – experience building and auditing models
Demonstrated experience in writing corporate lending credit proposals with an understanding of Project Finance (advantageous but not essential)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a small team environment
