About the role:

As a Senior Data Engineer for Alinta's Data and Analytics team, you will work on building out the new, Azure-hosted data and analytics environment. This work will involve participating in the delivery of projects across Retail, Trading, Power Generation and Corporate lines of business. Initially this role will have no direct reports, however due to Alinta Energy's continued growth there may be opportunity to lead a small team of Data Engineers in the future.

In this role, you'll be:

• Architecting, maintaining and developing the metadata-based ELT/ETL framework
• Creating and maintaining data models to support downstream users and systems and creating, optimising and maintaining data pipelines
• Using DevOps methodologies to automate, monitor and improve the development and deployment processes
• Developing and maintaining robust monitoring and alerting frameworks to ensure proactive identification and resolution of issues, fostering a culture of reliability and operational excellence within the data engineering team
• Collaborating with the data science community to productionise code based on models developed
• Coaching and mentoring data engineers
• Communicating and corroborating with business stakeholders to understand, prioritize, and manage workloads and maintain platform performance

Ideally, you'll bring to the role:

• Commercial experience in a Senior Data Engineer role, ideally within the energy industry
• Referenceable experience designing and developing metadata-based ELT frameworks
• designing and developing Databricks, Python, Scala or Java code against large-scale, cloud-based data warehouses that make use of big-data frameworks like Spark, Kafka, Hive and Map-Reduce
• Lead or have worked in a senior position with DevOps teams and comfortable with DevOps/SRE thinking
• Experience with scrum-based agile delivery teams
