  • Senior Clinical Prosthetist Orthotist AHP2/AHP3 Full Time, Ongoing from January 2024, Salary $102,641 - $110,094 p.a. (pro rata) AHP3
  • Orthotics and Prosthetics SA (OPSA) are looking for an enthusiastic experienced clinical leader and an experienced clinician to join our diverse and patient-centric team (2 positions available).

    OPSA provides comprehensive treatment for people with limb difference or amputation, and for all orthotic needs. OPSA is a progressive and innovative clinical service provider, committed to helping our clients gain improved quality of life. We are part of a multidisciplinary service within Southern Adelaide Local Health Network providing excellence of care in acute hospital setting, rehabilitation care, outpatient and outreach services, and ongoing clinical services to clients both private and public. OPSA provides high quality and person-centred clinical management for clients with limb deficiencies of all levels, and musculoskeletal and neuromuscular deformities, ranging from high-risk foot orthotic management to myoelectric and bionic limbs. OPSA is a dual stream practise with on-site manufacturing workshop, catering for upper and lower limb specialties, caring for paediatric and adult clients.

    AHP3 Senior Prosthetist Orthotist - Ongoing - Full Time

    About the Role:

    This is a Permanent Full-Time position at 75 hours per fortnight within OPSA.

    You will be responsible for coordinating and leading the prosthetic and orthotic team to deliver high quality orthotic and prosthetic (O&P) services and provide clinical supervision and skill development of clinical and technical staff. You will facilitate the uptake and integration of digital processes into the workstream. You will demonstrate initiative and a can-do attitude, be excited about maximizing the possibilities of OPSA's services, and have strong lateral thinking and problem-solving skills. You will work collaboratively with colleagues.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction for the service, ensuring patient-centred care is prioritised in clinical, supervisory, and team activities.
  • Initiate, implement, and actively participate in Quality Improvement projects and activities in consultation with the Director OPSA and AHP3 Senior clinical staff.
  • Utilise experience in clinical leadership to contribute to service development, evaluation, and quality improvement activities.
  • Exhibit full competency in technical processes, overseeing and training AHP2, AHP1, Technicians, and students of OPSA.
  • Manage a complex and varied clinical caseload of O&P inpatients and outpatients (of all amputation levels and differing orthotic pathologies), including technical work as required.
  • Form part of the department leadership team, supporting the AHP3 colleague and Director OPSA in all areas of operational management and service delivery
  • Contribute to strategy, planning, education, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • The successful applicant must have experience working with third party funding bodies such as NDIS, Lifetime Support, and Workcover.
  • To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Master of Clinical Prosthetics & Orthotics or Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics or equivalent.
  • Membership or evidence of eligibility for membership to AOPA
  • Proven expertise in O&P service delivery and treatment
  • Experience in clinical leadership within a discrete unit, including service development, evaluation, and quality improvement activities.
  • Full competency in technical processes, with the ability to oversee and train others,
  • Demonstrated experience in all aspects of service delivery relating to O&P, clinical exposure equivalent to at least 8 years of experience.
  • Ability to analyse issues from all perspectives and make sound conclusions from the available information, with ability to identify and propose workable and sustainable solutions.

  • AHP1/AHP2 Clinical Prosthetist Orthotist -Ongoing Full Time and Fixed Term 12 month position

    About the Role:

    This is a Permanent Full-Time position at 75 hours per fortnight within OPSA, and a 12-month fixed term position is available.

    The Clinical Prosthetist Orthotist will provide high quality O&P services to clients referred to OPSA. As part of an interdisciplinary team, you will provide a responsive service that works to meet each client's identified goals. The position has a role in supervising AHP1 clinicians and technical staff and providing clinical teaching to undergraduate O&P students.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Provision of O&P management for acute, sub-acute and community clients,
  • Deliver consistently excellent evidence-based O&P care comprising of interim and definitive interventions for children and adults with lower and upper limb deficiencies or differences,
  • Manage a complex and varied clinical caseload.
  • Develop awareness of governance requirements including safety and quality clinical practice guidelines, procedures and policies and their application to the clinical role
  • Your skills and experience:

  • Master of Clinical Prosthetics & Orthotics or Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics or equivalent.
  • Membership or evidence of eligibility for membership to AOPA
  • You will have extensive experience and sound clinical decision-making skills in the provision of O&P treatment.
  • Accreditation in the use of microprocessor and bionic components would be advantageous.
  • You require a strong commitment to evidence-based, self-reflective and best-practice O&P service provision and a demonstrated commitment to professional development.
  • You will demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills, and a commitment to contribute to the supportive team environment.
  • You will be self-motivated and keen to participate in quality activities.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant clinical experience
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills,
  • Experience and knowledge of working with funding bodies such as NDIS, ALS, and Workcover
  • Current driver's license
  • The ongoing permanent role is a single vacancy, with two possible appointment classifications, AHP3 or AHP2. The successful applicants will be appointed in the position appropriate to their skills, qualifications, and experience.

    The fixed term 12-month role is a single vacancy at AHP2 classification.
