    About the Role

    TCC is seeking a Team Manager Resource Recovery Operations to join the senior leadership team. Reporting directly to the General Manager Resource Recovery, the role leads a team to deliver, but not limited to, the following:

    • Leading the planning of waste and resource recovery
    • Management of waste and recyclables collection services.
    • Management of waste and resource recovery facilities services.
    • Ensures services are regulatory compliant, safe, effective, and efficient.
    • Provides excellent customer service.

    TCC's corporate goals aim to ensure the City remains at the forefront of waste management and resource recovery in regional Queensland. TCC is highly aligned with the State Government's waste and resource recovery strategies and plans that encourage landfill diversion, and recovery of organics and recyclables.

    TCC is focused on attracting the resource recovery and recycling industry to Townsville to support its landfill diversion goals. This means the City intends to attract a confident and progressive leader, to work with the team toward its strategic goals and plans.

    About You

    To succeed in the role, you will have proven leadership experience with a track record of successfully managing teams, strong understanding of environmental regulations, waste management practices and sustainable technologies, and excellent communication skills including experience in report writing, contract negotiation, community consultation and education.

    Skills and Qualifications:

    • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Science, Business, or similar industry related qualification and demonstrated track record of success as a Senior Manager in a large diverse organisation. Postgraduate studies in a field related to waste management is desirable.
    • Demonstrated ability to translate the strategic direction of Council into plans and actions, prioritising financial and operational resources appropriately.
    • Proven senior leader with significant experience managing large teams to deliver excellent customer service in a service delivery environment.
    • High level technical and professional knowledge of solid waste management including waste minimisation, collection, transport, recovery, processing, disposal, and alternative waste technologies.
    • Demonstrated understanding of the regulatory requirements and conditions applicable to Solid Waste Management under the provisions of the Environmental Protection Act 1994, Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011 and the Local Government Act 2009.
    • Demonstrated experience implementing strategies to enhance the capability of the team and those supervising operational teams, including performance management practices.
    • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with proven consultation and negotiation experience to resolve high risk, difficult and conflicting objectives.
    • Demonstrated experience in promoting our safety leadership culture and leading safe, effective and efficient operations.
