    Locations: Council Chambers, 119 – 145 Spence Street, Portsmith

    About the position:

    Council is seeking a Community Development specialist leader who has experience in the coordination of a team of Community Development Officers who have relevant expertise in their individual areas of focus.

    You will have knowledge on contemporary community resilience practices and community capacity building strategies.

    A knowledge of disaster management frameworks and experience in incident management would be an advantage.

    The ideal candidate will:

    • have demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate your team
    • have a genuine passion for serving the community
    • provide high level specialist advice, direction and coordination on key social matters
    • lead the Branch in designing and implementing community development programs intended to increase levels of wellbeing and quality of life

    To be successful in this role you will require:

    • Current Queensland Driver's open licence or ability to obtain
    • Tertiary (university level) qualifications in social science or other relevant qualifications
    • Extensive experience in high level social policy, community and/or regional development leadership position
    • Demonstrated high level understanding, design and application of contemporary social policy and community development principles and practices, strategic planning, and delivery
    • Strong skills in networking, negotiation, facilitation, and consultation in a political environment
    • Proven effective team management and leadership skills
