    Description

    The key duties of the position include The Role The EL2 Chief Engineer will exercise a significant degree of independence, performing an important leadership role.

    They will be responsible for influencing and developing strategies, policies, priorities and operational practices supporting Defence objectives based on high-level decision making and judgement.

    They will provide strategic advice to senior management and stakeholders as well as leading and assuming accountability for very complex work or work programs that have strategic, political or operational significance.

    The EL2 Chief Engineer will have extensive knowledge relating to the methodology, systems and procedures within the engineering discipline and the ability to translate this into strategy.

    They will provide a strategic level of specialist and professional expertise, potentially relating to the work of different discipline areas.

    They will initiate, establish and maintain strong relationships with a network of stakeholders internally and externally and will have the ability to recognise shared agendas and work toward mutually beneficial outcomes.

    About our Team The Joint Command and Control Systems Program Office (JC2 SPO) is responsible for the acquisition, integration and sustainment of command, and control warfare systems for the Australian Defence Force across the country and in operational theatres overseas.

    These capabilities include computer applications that support planning and conduct of operations, including IT infrastructure and command and control systems for deployed military forces across the five Domains.

    JC2 SPO acquires and sustains joint-information warfare capabilities that are mission critical to all three services of the Australian Defence Force.

    Accountable for managing and leading a team, including providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people.

    Accountable for managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, workflows, developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes.
    Accountable for exercising assigned engineering authorities and any Technical Regulatory Authority delegations.
    Drive the delivery of very complex engineering functions, systems and innovative activities.
