    Our Opportunity

    Work location: Perth based (525 Great Eastern Highway)

    Roster: Monday to Friday

    In support of Fortescue's strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Green Fleet projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining fleet

    Key Responsibilities

    • Applying discipline-specific engineering knowledge.
    • Identifying, assessing and managing engineering risks.
    • Maintaining clear communication with key stakeholders.
    • Understanding and ensuring facilities comply with technical, regulatory and governance requirements.
    • Designing and developing products, specifications and plans without supervision.
    • Interpreting engineering drawings, documents, specifications, and scopes.
    • Ensuring project owners comply with project management processes.
    • Resolving technical and design issues.
    • Collaborating with the broader engineering team, project manager and workshop execution teams.
    • Designing reviews and calculations.
    • Prioritising and delivering work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Adapting to change and to new requirements quickly.
    • Proactively delivering on the company's stretch targets.
    • Providing regular updates to the Principal and Project Manager.

    Qualifications and Experience

    Essential:

    • Engineering degree
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
    • Flexibility to travel to site when required.
    • Solid understanding with engineering design tools (programming tools, CAD, CAE, etc.).
    • Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and in multidisciplinary teams
    • High commitment to safety.
    • Experience with ERP work management.
    • Excellent interpersonal awareness with ability to work well in a team.
    • Proactive and self-motivated, with a drive for excellence.
    • Results driven, responsible and accountable.
    • Skilled in rapid problem solving.
    • Understanding of safety in design.
    • Experience in preparing detailed scope of works.
    • Experience participating and coordinating a purchasing process.
    • Experience in contractor engagement and contractor management process.
    • Clear and calculated decision-making.
    • Ability to work across multiple fronts in a high-pressure environment.

    Preferred experience:

    • Experience specifying, designing, or testing Rolling Stock Mechanical systems such as bogies, structures, noise, vibrations, mechanical sub-systems, and dynamics.
    • Working knowledge of industry standards from AS/RISSB and EN series.
    • Awareness of mechanical design, manufacture and test obligations relating to environmental performance, dynamics, RAMS, SIL, and the demonstration of safety SFAIRP.
