    Workforce Development engages with our people, to provide support for individual and collective capability development in the areas of leadership, learning and development, inclusion, diversity, social policy, and individual performance, as well as career and succession planning. The team is responsible for developing and implementing policies, strategies and programs, that support our people to manage, embrace and enhance workforce performance and support our people throughout every career stage with the department.

    Reporting to the Principal Project Officer, you will play a key role in a project team contributing to key project deliverables in relation to the Senior Officers Business Development Project to support senior officers to set minimum standards of business knowledge (i.e. ICT, Finance, HR, etc.) to assist in day-to-day decision making. You will work closely with key stakeholders, providing high-level advice and assisting in the development and implementation of training resources and tools. You will be responsible for progressing key project activities in line with recommendations and develop project documentation and timelines to ensure project deliverables and milestones meet effective service delivery outcomes.

    As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events.

    Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.

    • Knowledge and experience in project management methodologies.
    • Recent demonstrated experience in change and communication is highly desirable.
    • Knowledge and/or experience in researching, developing, design and delivery of contemporary leadership and business skills development programs and learning items is highly desirable.

    Your key accountabilities

    Responsibilities

    Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
    • Assist with the implementation of strategies, plans and programs, in line with QFES project management methodologies to support delivery of the Senior Officers Business Development Project.
    • Undertake project planning, analysis, integrate project activities and evaluate the impact of projects and initiatives within set timeframes.
    • Undertake research and analysis, and interpret and solve problems to support project implementation and identify opportunities for improvements in processes and service delivery.
    • Contribute to coordinating, organising and promoting the activities identified within the project to ensure the successful delivery of the Senior Officers Business Development Project.
    • Assist with risk and issue identification, assessment and mitigation activities by ensuring risks and issues are documented, reviewed and escalated as appropriate.
    • Apply project management methodologies and tools to ensure the successful delivery of project including monitor project activities in consultation with stakeholders to ensure identified needs are met.
    • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners to optimise program delivery, drive innovative solutions, and facilitate effective communication to achieve project outcomes.
    • Contribute to a positive team culture, focusing on collaboration and communication to support a safe and inclusive workplace.
