    The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity is available for a Research Fellow to join the Deprescribing team in the Centre for Medicine Use and Safety, Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Research. Our team is leading research to determine how to optimise deprescribing in the real world through development of guidelines, tools and education and exploring how to best implement these in practice. We aim to conduct consumer and clinician informed research to reduce medication related harm and improve quality of life for all Australians.

Reporting to Dr Emily Reeve, the focus of the role will be supporting the project 'Integration and implementation of deprescribing recommendations to reduce medication induced harm'. This research program will create new knowledge and strategies that are directly applicable and translatable to practice. Reduction of inappropriate medication use will reduce the risk of medication induced harm, improving care for older Australians.

As a Research Fellow, you'll play a critical role in coordinating and supporting research activities, ensuring ethical research practices, working with key stakeholders and consumers and contributing to the improvement of quality use of medicines through deprescribing.

We are seeking a passionate individual who thrives both independently in a research environment and as a collaborative member of an interdisciplinary team.

As the successful candidate you will have a doctoral qualification in deprescribing, polypharmacy, quality use of medicines or a closely related field (or you are expected to have submitted your PhD thesis for examination before, or within a reasonable time period of beginning this position). You will have previous research experience in clinical practice guidelines, qualitative, mixed methods or health services research, or implementation science. It would be beneficial if you are a pharmacist or other healthcare professional.

If you're ready to expand your skills and knowledge while advancing research into deprescribing and clinical practice guidelines, we invite you to join our dynamic team at the Centre for Medicine Use and Safety.

Diversity is one of our greatest strengths at Monash. We encourage applications from First Nations people, culturally and linguistically diverse people, people with disabilities, neurodiverse people, and people of all genders, sexualities, and age groups.
