    About the Role

    The Senior Mental Health Nurse will be a valued member of the mental health senior leadership team and responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

    • Providing mental health nursing leadership within the Mental Health Services,
    • In conjunction with Director of Nursing- Mental Health & Wellbeing develop and implement strategies addressing workforce planning and development issues in consultation with the Senior Mental Health Leadership Team and in accordance with the agreed staffing plans and needs for the service.
    • Supervising the RPN4 Clinical Educator and RPN5 Psychiatric Nurse Consultants employed within the mental health service.
    • Provide a significant contribution to the progression of the strategic directions of AWH through planning, service delivery monitoring and implementing positive change.

    We are actively seeking candidates who meet the following requirements to apply for this exceptional opportunity.

    1. Current registration with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse.
    2. Post graduate qualifications in mental health nursing, with at least 5 years' experience in mental health nurse practice.
    3. Demonstrated ability to provide Mental Health Nursing Leadership in a large clinical mental health service
    4. Demonstrated understanding of the National Practice Standards for the Mental Health Workforce and National Standards for Mental Health.
    5. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the provision of contemporary training and professional development strategies and packages including experience in the provision of clinical supervision.
    6. Ability to work both independently and as a part of a leadership team to produce, communicate, implement and evaluate complex work plans.
    7. Demonstrated detailed knowledge and understanding of contemporary mental health nursing models of care as underpinned by the Mental Health Act 2022 and the explicit and implicit principles of recovery.
    8. Demonstrates a well-developed range of communication and interpersonal skill.
