    Job Description

    In your role as Engineering Manager, you'll be responsible for the engineering and people management within one of our high performing mobile application squads inside Nine Product & Technology. You'll play a vital role in helping your team grow their skills professionally while delivering the product roadmap for a best-in-class news experience for millions of Australians.

    Enabling your team

  • Work with stakeholders to provide technical solutions to problems or issues
  • Act as a enabler, removing roadblocks to progress as needed
  • Maintain high quality standards for yourself and software engineering practices of your team
  • Work with team members to guide solutions towards business and technology goals
  • Drive the continuous improvement of processes and ways of work to improve team capacity and capability

    • Technical Leadership

  • Drive adoption of best practice and ensuring engineering decisions align with the project and product engineering strategy
  • Remove single points of failure by cross-skilling staff

    • Drive high performance

  • Establish and maintain a highly motivated and high performance team culture through one on one feedback, mentoring, coaching and performance management
  • Communicate openly and be the voice of the business within your team, keeping them informed of and working towards the business vision & goals
  • Effectively lead people processes including the hiring of new talent

    • Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in a team leadership role
  • A background in mobile applications development
  • Strong knowledge of mobile application development and delivery
  • Experience producing cross platform applications for both iOS and Android
  • Hands-on experience with either Swift or Kotlin
  • A history of high performance and self improvement for yourself and those around you.
  • A demonstrated ability to influence those around you in order to drive better outcomes
  • A growth mindset that's comfortable with change and experience managing it within a team environment
  • A strong understanding of agile development best practices including Scrum and Lean methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills
