Established in 1871, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is located in Sydney's The Domain adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden and near the Central Business District, the Gallery acknowledges the original custodians of this land – the Gadigal people.
The Art Gallery attracts around 2 million visitors annually and runs Australia's largest education program with over 90,000 student and teacher visits per year.
With our expanded campus the Art Gallery has a new state-of-the-art building located next to our existing and much-loved building. Providing us with close to double the exhibition space, the expanded Art Gallery enables us to share more art with more people and provide more family, learning and educational programming for all our audiences.

About the Role
Lead and manage the Marketing and Digital Experience team to develop, implement and evaluate marketing and digital strategies that achieve visitation, audience development, artistic, commercial, and brand objectives, ensuring alignment with the Gallery's strategic objectives.

What Technical/Soft Skills you require
- Appropriate tertiary qualification or relevant, equivalent professional experience in Marketing and/or Digital.
- Extensive experience in developing and implementing successful, results-driven marketing strategies and campaigns, including leading creative and conceptual development to achieve measurable outcomes.
- Extensive experience managing complex projects across multiple platforms, including coordinating diverse stakeholders to deliver outcomes on time and within scope
Targeted Questions
- Please provide an example of a marketing, tourism, destination, or brand‑building strategy you have led that delivered a significant measurable outcome (e.g., visitation, revenue, audience growth, digital engagement). In your response, outline the insights that informed the strategy, how you aligned it with organisational priorities, and the results achieved. (300 words)
- Describe a digital initiative or transformation project you have led that improved user experience, digital engagement, or organisational capability. What problem were you addressing, what approach did you take, and what outcomes were achieved? (300 words)
- Please provide an example of a research or insights framework you have developed that improved decision‑making, operational efficiency, or audience understanding. Describe how you embedded this framework across teams or departments and the impact it had on organisational performance. (300 words)
- Describe a time when you led a multidisciplinary team and worked across multiple departments (e.g., exhibitions, curatorial, visitor experience, commercial) to deliver a complex marketing or digital outcome. What was your approach to collaboration, influence, capability building, and ensuring high performance? (300 words)
