    The Purpose

    The primary purpose of the position is to be part of a dynamic team that is responsible to implement, automate, support and maintain all environments that are expected to operate on a 24x7 basis.

    Performing and coordinating the implementation, ongoing engineering and maintenance/upgrading of a multi-platform environment with strong focus on Linux (Red Hat), VMware ESXi, Databases (Oracle SQL), SAN Storage (NFS) and various network services in a hybrid cloud environment.

    The role reports directly to the Head of Reliability and Infrastructure and/or delegates. They will work and collaborate closely with the engineers within the team and other business units within the division. The role also includes responsibilities to assist with conducting technical reviews for new and ongoing tactical and strategic initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Ensure SLA, SLE and SLO are met in a 24x7 environment. Required participation to an on-call roster
    • Manage, maintain Red Hat Linux and Red Hat Ansible and Satellite Servers
    • Operating System hardening based on recommendation by the Centre for Internet Security (CIS)
    • Develop scripts, Ansible playbook ( Bash or Python ) and API calls for automating system administration and other repeatable tasks
    • Manage and maintain network services such as Mail, DNS, NTP, Firewalld and F5 Load Balancer
    • Generate system health related reports, manage and maintain monitoring, alerting and reporting systems such as Splunk, Dynatrace and Wazuh
    • Deploy, configure, troubleshoot and staying up to date with licensing, subscriptions, versions and features and making sure all are compliant
    • Implement security best practice, perform regular audits, patches and updates
    • Monitor performance and identify bottleneck and optimise system resources such as disk utilisations
    • Diagnose and resolve issues not limited to hardware, network to application level
    • Ensure robust data integrity protection and availability with filesystem snapshot (such as LVM and VM snapshot) log shipping, replication and backup and recovery strategies
    • Understand the principle of secure authentication, access control and multi factor authorisation as well as encryption technologies used in protocols such TLS and HTTPS and certificates.
    • Complete all role requirements relating to development, implementation and maintenance of IT systems in accordance with the AP+'s information security policies and procedures as directed by the Head of Reliability and Infrastructure and/or delegates.

    Stakeholder Engagement

    • Really knows how to get the best out of external partners & stakeholders, delivering value for money & monitoring their value-add.
    • Manage third-party relationships including agency relationships (creative, media, research, PR) and participant/ member marketing teams.

    • Work closely as a member of the AP+ Leadership Team to ensure the long-term health and prosperity of a high-performing highly focused team.
    • Collaborate in the development and achievement of the goals and KPI's of the AP+ Commercial Team

    Position Requirements

    Qualification:

    • Red Hat Certification, such as RHCE, would be highly desirable
    • Tertiary qualifications relevant to the role

    Experience

    • 2+ years' experience in similar role
    • Problem solving abilities and pragmatic approach
    • Able to see and improve status quo

    Knowledge

    • Scripting and code programming. Ideally Bash and Python in a Linux platform
    • Experience in product / application equivalent to what has been described in the key responsibilities

    Capabilities

    • Ability to handle pressure and variations in workload in a 24x7 environment
    • Able to run with multiple tasks with tight deadlines
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for collaborating with team members and other stake holders
