    About Ngarluma Aboriginal Corporation (NAC): As a Registered Native Title Body Corporate (RNTBC), NAC's function is to manage native title rights and interests on behalf of the Ngarluma people.

    Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Heritage Manager to lead the growth of our heritage department and oversee all aspects of heritage management within the organisation.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide leadership and direction to the heritage team, including training, support and performance management.
    • Develop and manage department budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.
    • Oversee the negotiations with proponents related to exploration and prospecting on Ngarluma determined lands.
    • Facilitate negotiations related to future acts, including land use agreements, heritage assessments, and development proposals.
    • Work with NAC's external legal counsel to provide guidance on heritage-related legal matters.
    • Monitor and enforce compliance with Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUAs), including conducting regular audits and reporting to stakeholders.
    • Maintain compliance with Heritage Agreements, commitments and legislation.
    • Oversee safe working practices with fieldwork activities.
    • Work collaboratively with other managers in the organization to support the overall mission of the organization.

    Qualifications and background:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Science, Land Management, Law, or similar with relevant experience in heritage management, native title, mining legislation, and Indigenous land rights.
    • Proven experience in a heritage management role with strong contractual negotiation and compliance background, preferably within the Indigenous affairs sector.
    • Strong understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and policies related to heritage protection, land access negotiation, and Indigenous land rights. (Native Title, Mining regulations, land regulations)
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Commitment to the cultural values and aspirations of the Ngarluma people and respect for indigenous cultures and traditions.
