    ABOUT THE ROLE

    The AFL Development Team plays an integral part of reaching our goal here at the AFL, which is to enhance and grow the game across all states and all levels – from grassroots to elite. Members of the AFL Development Team, facilitate programs and competitions to introduce Aussie Rules to new audiences. A Development Officer is responsible for facilitating sessions in a fun, inclusive and safe way at schools, community clubs and local competitions.

    You don't need to have played Aussie Rules or be a footy expert to join the team, but you do need to be enthusiastic, a good communicator and able to engage a group. These are casual roles and hours vary depending on program scheduling.

    A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Design AFL programs of various lengths utilising the games booklet and program templates.
    • Deliver AFL Programs to a range of participants varying in age and ability, inclusive of set up and pack up.
    • Engage in promotion of local sporting clubs while on programs and promote the transition from Sporting Schools Programs to Club Auskick/Football.
    • Ability to adapt to fast changing work environments.
    • Interact with key stakeholders involved in promotion of the game.
    • Umpire a range of formats including Paul Kelly Cup, AFL Nines and Superkick.
    • Attend local and state development days.
    • Assist in administration tasks such as moving stock and Auskick Transition calls when required.
    • Stay up to date on the latest business protocols and processes

    Mandatory:

    • Valid Working with Children Check (NSW) or Working with Vulnerable People (ACT)
    • Valid drivers licence and access to vehicle
    • Currently hold or are willing to gain a First Aid Certificate
