The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world-class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools. About the Role

The Senior Leader will work in partnership with the local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group and the local community to achieve the key accountabilities of the role. The position will also work in collaboration with schools implementing the Connected Communities strategy.

The position supports the implementation of strategic initiatives and programs, and provides a communication conduit between the school, Aboriginal families, local agencies and the community.

Moree is a regional centre in north west New South Wales with a population of approx. 9,000. Moree is a 1.5 hour drive north to the Queensland border town of Goondiwindi and east to Inverell. Moree East Public School is a Connected Communities primary school, standing proudly on Gomeroi Country. The school has a FOEI is /2022) and ICSEA , identifying the school as a low socio-economic rural and remote school demographic. Current 2023 student enrolment is 209, with 87% of students identifying as Aboriginal. Enrolments have increased steadily since 2017. The school has modern facilities (school rebuild 2016) and a strong ethos of inclusion and commitment to education of the whole child through the provision of quality education and welfare practices. Current 2023 initiatives include MultiLit Closing the Gap; Visible Learning, Gomeroi Culture and Gamilaraay Language; STEM education, SMART Spelling, and a yoga, movement and mindfulness program. Early learning and intervention are supported in SaCC programs (community playgroups) and our comprehensive Kindergarten transition to school program.
