The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Hot Coil Processing Despatch team (HCPD) at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a Shift Electrician. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

The HCPD Operations is one of the key assets in the Hot Mills business that manufactures and despatches a range of coil products including Hot Rolled Coil, TRU-SPEC Steel, EMBARTM Steel and Hot Rolled Slit Strip largely into the domestic market.

This is a shift position that also encompasses a shift relief component to alleviate the electrical shift maintenance team as required, you will primarily work a 12-hour 24 x 7 rotating roster, consisting of rotating days and night shifts, Monday through to Sunday.

What will you do?

You will join a cross-functional team that ensures equipment is maintained to the highest standards to meet our objectives for quality and reliability. In this critical role, you will be able to use your technical background and experience to deliver key outcomes, whilst ensuring your safety and that of your colleagues are a priority. In this role you will:

• follow the safe system of work and develop isolation instructions and job safety analysis for the required work
• perform safe, efficient and effective emergency repairs
• fault-find on electrical equipment including PLC's and drive systems
• fault find on steel processing equipment and cranes
• perform equipment inspections, identify improvement opportunities and report on findings

You are driven by self-development, committed to our success, and have technical experience within an industrial, manufacturing environment.

You will have:

• electrical trade qualifications
• current NSW Electrical License
• experience working in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment
• experience working with PLC's and drives
• have a strong commitment to safety
• experience in fault finding and problem solving
• initiative in carrying out equipment repairs
