The Role:

About You:

As a Product Development Estimator at AHB Group, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of project cost estimations. You will be responsible for estimating the costs of New standard Product designs as well as the projects under our display home programme. Collaborating with cross-functional teams and contributing to the success of our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cost Estimation:

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for residential construction projects, including materials, labour, and subcontractor costs.
• Analyse architectural and engineering plans, specifications, and project scopes to determine cost components.
• Use estimation software and industry knowledge to produce competitive and reliable estimates.

2. Quantity Take-off:

• Conduct quantity take-offs of materials and labour required for each project.
• Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and accurate cost data.
• Maintain an updated database of cost-related information for reference in future estimations.

3. Process Improvement:

• Continuously evaluate and enhance estimation processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Implement best practices, tools, and technology to streamline estimation procedures.
• Identify opportunities for cost-saving measures and suggest improvements in project planning.

4. Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain organized records of all project estimates, assumptions, and data sources.
• Generate regular reports on estimation accuracy, project costs, and variances for senior management.
• Communicate estimation results and recommendations effectively to stakeholders.

5. Quality Assurance:

• Ensure that estimations align with industry standards, regulations, and company guidelines.
• Conduct quality checks to verify the integrity of estimation data and calculations.
• Investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions when necessary.

6. Cross-functional Collaboration:

• Collaborate closely with project managers, designers, procurement, and construction teams to gather project-specific information and ensure accurate estimations.
• Communicate effectively with suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants to obtain pricing and project-related details.
• Participate in project meetings to provide cost-related insights and address inquiries.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Relevant post-secondary qualifications
• Sales and Production Estimating experience essential
• Highly developed computer literacy skills
• Able to prioritise and handle a large work-load
• A strong work ethic and the ability to multi-task
• Strong written & verbal communication skills
• Prior experience in the Construction industry a must
