    UGL Regional Linx are looking for a passionate & enthusiastic Legal Counsel to join our team.

    Job Purpose

    The role will provide appropriate and competent legal assistance and advice in line with the following accountabilities and responsibilities:

    • to establish UGL's position in contracts;

    • to provide legal representation such that guidance is provided to UGL at all levels; and

    • to ensure that UGL's operations are conducted within the limits prescribed by law, delegations of authority, all policies and further, that its rights are protected.

    Key Responsibilities

    To provide the General Counsel with assistance in organising and directing UGL's legal advice and assistance to protect UGL's interests from a legal perspective.

    • Heavy involvement in negotiating, drafting and settling contracts ranging from complex heavy engineering and infrastructure projects to small operation, maintenance or construction projects, leases, joint venture proposals and other commercial arrangements in order to safe guard UGL's interests.

    • Attend and drive tender, contract and dispute resolution discussions and negotiations between UGL and customers/suppliers as required.

    • Review of all terms and conditions that are not UGL standard conditions of sale

    • Report on legal risks of tenders as required by the Senior Legal Counsel.

    • To provide assistance in project and or contract managers involved with major projects including the setting up and monitoring of contract administration procedures.

    • To manage or to provide advice in dispute resolution.

    • To provide assistance with UGLRL's tenders and client submissions.

    • To provide contractual training to Operational staff.

    • Ensure that UGL is in good standing and fulfils its obligations pursuant to the Corporations Law and other areas regulating the conduct of corporations, including all CIMIC policies.

    • Ensure that the UGL is at all times informed as to new or proposed legislation that may affect activities including any proposed or existing government policies or directives, including respective State and Territory Security of Payment regimes.

    • To generally provide legal advice as required

    Qualifications


    • Tertiary qualifications in Law

    • Admitted as Legal Practitioner in the relevant Australian jurisdiction or be eligible for such admission

    • 3+ years as a qualified solicitor.

    • Substantial experience and expertise in engineering, infrastructure and construction contracts and operation and maintenance contracts.

    • Strong understanding and experience in the commercial and legal requirements of the contract process
