    Description

    POSITION OBJECTIVE

    This position manages and coordinates the State Crime Disclosure Unit teams. Oversees and quality controls the preparation and distribution of disclosure material and information in accordance with legislation. Provides contemporary and accurate advice and training relevant to the disclosure of information in relation to criminal proceedings.

    SPECIALIST PRE-REQUISITE

    It is a requirement that the position holder is successful in obtaining and maintaining a NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 2 security clearance for the duration of their appointment in the position. Only Australian Citizens are eligible to hold and maintain the NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 2 security clearance. Any applicants who are currently not an Australian Citizen must be aware that this is an essential requirement to fulfil this position (please refer to the attached position description). Whilst there is nothing to preclude applicants from applying for the position if they have not yet been granted Australian Citizenship, applicants who are successful should be aware that they cannot be appointed unless they are in the process of applying for Australian Citizenship and are eligible to become an Australian Citizen prior to appointment.

    It is a requirement of this position that applicants undertake a psychological assessment to determine their suitability, and as an incumbent, agree to undergo periodical psychological assessments, as required.

    APPLICATION PROCESS

    Applicants are asked to address the following nominated work related requirements in no more than three (3) pages and addressed in 11 point Arial font:

    • Communication and interpersonal skills – Liaising, negotiating and relating effectively with a range of internal and external personnel and stakeholders. Encouraging teamwork and fostering an effective and positive working environment. Developing and delivering training material. Preparing reports, memos, and general correspondence.
    • Research and evaluation skills – Undertaking comprehensive research on a broad range of issues and evaluating findings relevant to disclosure requirements. Contributing and disseminating practical solutions to improve functionality. Undertaking research on complex and sensitive disclosure issue in a timely manner.
    • Conceptual and analytical skills – Reviewing and analysing information and ensuring all processes are compliant. Developing solutions to complex problems. Conceptualising and analysing issues to provide advice and recommendations on the disclosure of information.

    Applicants are also required to submit a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV) of no more than five (5) pages. Your CV should provide enough detail (dot points are sufficient) to allow the selection panel to assess your skills and experience relevant to the Key Accountabilities of the attached Position Description Form.

    The CV must also include the names and contact details of two (2) referees who can comment on the applicant's ability to satisfy all of the Essential Work Related Requirements. Applicants should nominate at least one immediate (most contemporary) supervisor/manager unless exceptional circumstances exist.

    Please note: For applicants deemed suitable, all Essential Work Related Requirements listed in the Position Description Form will be assessed at some stage during the selection process.

    OTHER CONDITIONS

    Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies throughout the metropolitan area. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the panel may select another suitable applicant from this selection process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial date of the appointment.

    Integrity and criminal checks will be conducted if the recommended applicant for a position is not a current WA Police Force employee. Any relocation costs associated with appointment to these positions may be the responsibility of the successful applicants.
