    How will I help?

    The Application Services Manager (ASM) is responsible for providing application delivery management across a portfolio of Change (Build) activity including priming, where required. The role also oversees Run in portfolios where the Run functions are not centralised.

    The ASM Lead teams of Westpac project resources and enables suppliers to deliver across the portfolio, accountable for implementation outcomes, integration of activity and simplification of the operating environment. This role is specifically for the new Appian application portfolio – Appian is WBC strategic workflow platform operating as a PaaS. A broad view on other technologies such as Appain, Database, etc will be useful.

    The ideal candidate will have experience in API and ideally Appian. They would also have a strong knowledge of Power BI and an extensive background in Technology, contract, service and vendor management.

    The role will be part of Group Operations Technology, this business unit are partners to Group Operations Business as they continue to look for improvements and efficiencies to create a better future for our customers. The focus is on Simplification, Digitisation and Automation. You will be working very closely with the business project teams, CTO and numerous solution provider teams across the wider Group Tech community. Other key stakeholders include technology and operations risk teams. The ideal candidate will also navigate between strategic transformation plans and immediate business needs to propose fit for purpose solution designs.

    This role must be based in Sydney, it is a hybrid role which means the candidate will need to attend the office at least twice a week.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Accountable for Delivery of reliable, stable application services through the identification, planning and management of outcomes and dependencies across the application life cycle in line with the broader business and technology strategies.
    • Accountable for ensuring the effectiveness and documentation of key controls and the overall control environment.
    • Accountable for reporting of delivery and incident / problem management outcomes.
    • Deliver 'services without boundaries' employing an end-to-end service viewpoint ensuring the stability and reliability of all systems within a particular application services portfolio.
    • Manage the underpinning technology as well as the upstream and downstream impacts that applications may have on other systems.
    • Ensure that all service management priorities are addressed in a timely manner, minimising impact to both the business and customer.
    • Ensure end to end stability and reliability of the applications (Run and Change) whilst maximising the application availability and customer experience.
    • Enable the strategic outsource delivery model, Application Delivery Services (ADS), through monitoring and reviewing partner performance and delivery to ensure seamless service and delivery to customers and the realisation of sourcing benefits.
    • Provide input and advice on GroupTech planning as a member of the Applications Domain leadership team and contribute to the development of GroupTech roadmaps.
    • Guide projects to abide with governance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to business value principles, architecture principles, target blueprints, domain architectures and Group policies.
    • Manage and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure application support and maintenance initiatives are understood, accepted, and engaged.
    • Ensure ongoing operational stability and maintenance of the business services supported and aim to continuously improve customer advocacy and business value.
    • Act as leader, manager, mentor, and coach to best develop the high performing team.
    • Ensure the right people in the right roles to deliver the GroupTech services required to achieve business objectives.

    • DevOps – 5+ years
    • Extensive skills in analysis/problem solving, stakeholder management and a broad understanding of technologies
    • As an ASM leading the Support team, one needs to understand running the function including contract, SLAs, incidents, problems, etc.
