As a Lawyer in the Material Litigation team, you'll provide legal services, including litigation management and strategic advice to the Suncorp Group, ensuring that matters of material nature are managed in the most legally effective manner.

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly skilled professional with a demonstrated history of achieving pragmatic outcomes in litigation and dispute resolution.
Reporting to the Manager, Legal - Material Litigation, your key responsibilities will include:Provide strategic and legal advice to protect the interests of the Suncorp Group, its Directors, and Officers, aligning with the Legal Risk Appetite statement
Manage a portfolio of diverse matters and oversee external legal providers to ensure efficient administration of litigated matters both independently and as a part of a team
Proactively identify and raise potential matters that could significantly impact the Group's interests
Advise on regulatory changes and key legal decisions, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation
Partner with the business to simplify legal issues for easy understanding
Contribute to fiscal responsibility by managing and minimizing external legal spend while actively seeking ways to reduce reliance on external legal providers
What you'll bring
Tertiary qualifications in Law (Mandatory)
Admission as a Solicitor or Barrister in any Australian Court
4+ years of relevant legal experience
Experience in insurance and commercial litigation/dispute resolution
Experience in the financial services industry, particularly insurance
Experience providing legal advice for a listed company
