    The community you will join:

    As a Communications and Control technician based in Gladstone OR Townsville, you will be joining a supportive and collaborative team, working on exciting projects with the latest technology. Within the Secondary Systems team, your role will involve working throughout the state of Queensland, operating, maintaining and upgrading our transmission network. You will have the opportunity to work on a range of cutting edge protection systems and primary plant infrastructure, supported by industry leading transmission and technical training and support. The role involves installing, testing, commissioning and fault finding complex electrical, logical and HV systems

    Your expertise:

    You enjoy continual learning, working in a supportive and collaborative team environment, are highly accountable, take pride in providing a quality service and have a keen interest in working on technologically advanced systems
    Bring your experience and knowledge of; maintenance, testing and commissioning of multiplexer systems (PDH, SDH, and DWDM), MPLS-TP, fibre optic, and microwave radio
    Testing and commissioning of associated Control and SCADA systems, in the field or test centre environment; automated and microprocessor controlled test instruments; and analysing and fault finding on complex electrical circuitry and schemes.

    Essential:

    • An Electronics and Communications or Electrical Trade Certificate, with a QLD Electrical or Restricted Electrical Licence, or the ability to obtain one prior to commencement
    • Associate Degree or Advanced Diploma in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent
    • A current 'C' Class drivers licence
    • Restricted Electrical Licence
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively analyse and fault find on complex electrical circuitry and schemes
    • Demonstrated high quality communication skills in a technical environment
    • Demonstrated ability to prepare technical reports and work procedures
    • If you do not already hold an Associate Degree or Advanced Diploma in a related Electrical Engineering field, it is expected that you have significant progress towards one and continue to undertake studies to achieve or be willing to obtain. Powerlink will support you toward achieving this

    Desirable:

    • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of telecommunications in a field environment.
    • Demonstrated working knowledge of IP networks, High voltage primary plant, and high voltage communications in the field
