    The Queensland Police Service's Media Operations team offers one of the most dynamic media roles in government.

    You can lead external communications and media management providing strategic direction in the community safety portfolios of Disaster Management, State Emergency Service and Marine Rescue Queensland.

    The core capability requirements for this role require a strategic focus on community safety portfolios of Disaster Management, State Emergency Service and Marine Rescue Queensland.

    Develop, implement, and evaluate media management, corporate communication, public affairs and marketing strategies on behalf of the QPS.
    Oversee the production of news releases, multi-media news content, social media content, speaking points and materials for external communications.

    Manage the day-to-day operations of the Media Operations team, providing specialist media and organisational guidance to team members and overseeing the delivery of high-quality media services.

    Prepare and deliver media awareness and skills training sessions for QPS staff as required.
    Provide specialist advice to members of the QPS on media, public affairs and marketing issues.
    Identify proactive media, marketing and promotional opportunities for the QPS.
    Prepare complex news releases, talking points, speech notes and briefing material for use by QPS executives or the Minister.

    Represent the Media and Public Affairs Branch and the QPS at meetings with clients, stakeholders and potential corporate sponsors of the QPS.


    Role Requirements:

    Qualification:
    Applicants with formal qualifications in journalism and public affairs will be favourably considered.

    Applicants with government experience in community safety portfolios, such as Disaster Management, State Emergency Service or Marine Rescue will be favourably considered.


    Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience:
    Applicants with experience in journalism and public affairs will be favourably considered.

    Other:
    Rotational shift work between the hours of 6am and 6pm is required.
    Rotational weekend work is required.
    The business unit may schedule some duties outside of business hours.
    Inter/intra state travel may be required.
    Applications to remain current for 12 months.
