    About the Role:
    A fantastic opportunity is available for a dedicated music teacher to become part of a community-oriented school located in Williamstown/Altona, starting in term 2 for a full-time, ongoing position. You will have the privilege of working with students ranging from Foundation to year 9. This school, which caters to approximately 1000 students spanning from years F-12 across three campuses, offers an excellent chance to immerse yourself in a vibrant school community. Whether you are a recent graduate or an experienced educator, the school provides support and development opportunities, including learning coaching and access to top-notch resources.

    Key duties:

    • Planning and delivering engaging music lessons that cater to the needs and interests of students
    • Creating or following the Victorian curriculum that aligns with educational standards and objectives, incorporating elements such as music theory, history, performance skills, and appreciation.
    • Teaching students how to play various musical instruments, such as the piano, guitar, recorder, or drums, depending on available resources and student interests.
    • Introducing students to music theory concepts such as rhythm, melody, harmony, notation, and scales, in age-appropriate ways.
    • Fostering an appreciation for different styles and genres of music through listening activities, discussions, and exposure to a diverse range of musical works.
    • Organizing and facilitating opportunities for students to showcase their musical talents through concerts or school performances.
    • Assessing students' progress and understanding through various means, such as performance evaluations, written assignments, and practical assessments.
    • Continuously engaging in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in music education and to enhance teaching skills.

    Skills & Experience:

    • Completed relevant Qualifications in Education
    • Maintain a valid and up-to-date VIT registration
    • Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
    • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching secondary Drama subjects
    • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
