    Job Description

    Reporting to the Head Mechanic, the position includes the following responsibilities:

    • Ensure repairs are undertaken on fleet as per direction from Head Mechanic
    • Ensure servicing and maintenance is undertaken on fleet as per direction from Head Mechanic
    • Knowledge of hydraulic systems, pneumatic air systems, diagnosis of automotive electrical systems
    • Experience with troubleshooting on all fleet equipment
    • Adhere to all company and statutory procedures at all times, together with a strong commitment to workplace health and safety
    • Good understanding of the Chain of Responsibility
    • Where required, and on direction from the Head Mechanic, be available for weekend standby and callout duties.

    Desired Skills and Experience

    The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

    • Trade qualified heavy vehicle/ plant mechanic
    • Preferably 3 years experience (post apprenticeship) as a diesel mechanic in the heavy transport industry
    • Time management, ability to prioritize work
    • Good communication skills
    • Demonstrates pro-active attitude, a high degree of initiative with a can-do attitude within a team environment
    • The desire to perform the job function with the highest levels of professionalism and integrity, and with the view to professionally represent SCT Logistics
