    General/Business Unit Manager (CEO & General Management)

    THE COMPANY
    Our client own and operate a well-established large scale and diversified mixed farming operation with over $120M in assets comprising cropping and livestock including prime lambs, fine wool and cattle, as well as a feedlotting enterprise with direct marketing agreements. They have a focus on performance benchmarking whilst incorporating sustainable land management best practice. The business is in an enviable commercial position with significant growth ambitions and capacity for further development.

    THE ROLE
    Reporting to the Board, the General Manager is responsible for driving and guiding the commercial performance of the business. They will play a key role in contributing to the development of the strategic plan and its execution as well as the ongoing operational and production planning requirements of the various enterprises and CAPEX plans. They are responsible for ongoing periodic reporting and analysis of the business performance.

    The role is responsible for livestock and commodity marketing, managing key commercial relationships with suppliers, advisors and clients, as well as being the public face of the business.

    Additional responsibilities include:

    • Ensure industry best practice WH&S compliance and controls are implemented and adopted across all operations.
    • Lead a culture of collaboration with enterprise managers and on-farm staff, fostering a strong organisational culture as well as mentor and develop staff at all levels.
    • Oversee that best practice environmental and animal welfare guidelines are followed.
    THE REQUIREMENTS
    The successful candidate will have a proven background in managing large scale commercial operations through a results driven approach and a data driven mindset to performance. A sound technical knowledge of soils and demonstrate a passion for sustainable farming practices is highly regarded. A collaborative people orientated leader will be critical in ensuring future success in this role.
