    The GP Registrar plays a key role in the provision of mental health services to patients presenting to the South West Healthcare Mental Health Service. The GP Registrar will assist in the coordination of clinical activities both within and between Mental Health and other departments/services within SWH. The GP Registrar will closely liaise with the Director of Mental Health, Psychiatrists and GP Supervisors and will involve supervision of less experienced clinical staff and some formal and opportunistic teaching.

    Who we are

    South West Healthcare is a fully integrated facility with a total of 282 beds (216 acute, 36 aged care and 30 mental health). Warrnambool Campus (212 beds) provides acute, rehabilitation and mental health care, together with extensive outpatient and community services. Wards include medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, six bed critical care unit, dialysis, emergency, inpatient psychiatry, GEM and rehabilitation. There are three fully equipped operating theatres and a separate endoscopy suite.

This enables us to provide world best-practice treatment, care and support to a catchment population of 110,000 spread across 10,323 square kilometres. South West Healthcare has approximately 24,000 admissions and 26,500 emergency department attendances per year.
