    About the Role
The service/cover registrar role makes it possible for a registrar considering psychiatry training to become familiar with the service across a range of different areas and subspecialties to grow their experience.

Psychiatry cover registrars cover the roles of registrars on night shift. Service registrars are allocated to a part of service in a non training role.

Cover registrars cover roles for a minimum of 2 weeks at a time. Where possible night shifts are rostered so that cover registrars have longer periods of time in particular roles..

Some positions are not covered because they are highly specialized and cannot

pragmatically be backfilled. These include roles such as the psychotherapy registrar role,

VAHS, VDDS, Gertrude St perinatal and Gertrude St CAMHS.

Cover registrars receive clinical supervision from the supervisor usually associated with the role they are rotating into. Usually cover registrars work in the cover registrar for a six month period and in another service position for the other six months of their appointment.

Junior registrars are supported by senior registrars in both inpatient and community settings.

There is an extensive academic and educational program available to Junior Medical Staff at St Vincent's Mental Health. St Vincent's has a particular commitment to providing a comprehensive training program which includes quality experience in psychotherapy (supported by our Head of Psychotherapy Training) and an active examination preparation program

Classifications for this position will range from HM25 - HM30 ($125, $173,290.00 per annum).
