    At Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) we provide a range of public health services to the Riverina & Murray regions of New South Wales. Our Mental Health, Drug & Alcohol teams provide critical services within acute, sub-acute & community settings.     The role

    The Clinical Director will provide clinical leadership and supervision to the Older Persons Mental Health Unit as well as to staff of Dementia Behaviour Assessment and Management Service(DBAMS). Provide clinical management and treatment of patients of MLHD mental health services within the scope of practice granted by the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee. Work as part of the management team of the Older Persons Inpatient Unit to implement the Older Persons Mental health unit Model of Care, assisting with developing systems to improve the quality of care and experience of the consumers and carers. Reviewing the functioning and key performance indicators for the Older Persons Mental Health inpatient Unit and developing action plans to meet those goals.

    1. Current or eligible for Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and evidence of a Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or equivalent as assessed by the college and evidence of satisfactory participation on the RANZCP Continuing Professional Development Program with Older Persons subspecialty.
    2. Demonstrated significant experience relevant to Psychiatry practice and evidence of competence in Psychiatry skills relevant to Australian rural hospital practice and acute and general hospital Psychiatry.
    3. Sophisticated knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act and demonstrated experience in its application in clinical practice or demonstrated experience in an equivalent setting.
    4. Demonstrated clinical experience in providing expert psychiatric care and successful experience in Mental Health Management and clinical leadership positions.
    5. Ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral) and work cooperatively with other staff including medical, nursing, allied health, and management.
    6. Ability to comply with the service objectives of MLHD and participate in performance review processes.
    7. Demonstrated ability to communicate, consult, negotiate and work effectively and harmoniously with the community, senior health professionals, management and staff, consumers, family and carers and senior executives of government services.
    8. Evidence of a Class C drivers licence and ability and willingness to travel for work purposes.
